So here we are in a new place with nothing in the apartment to eat but some 2 day old Chinese Food, a little milk, cereal, and Mac & Cheese. It was time for a little "stock-the-apt" trip to Costco......yes there is a Costco a Brooklyn! You'd think that a little trip to Costco would not be much of an adventure, but you'd be quite wrong. After following numerous strange and crowded roads on the 2 mile journey we finally made it in a little over 15 mins.....excited to be somewhere where parallel parking was not required. We entered with some relief at the familiarity and a little confusion at the size.....we thought, "this is it?!" However after wandering through seeing familiar products on a smaller scale, we realized that there was an upstairs. Getting upstairs with a big cart is interesting as it requires use of a moving walkway that angles up. Fortunately there was someone there to assist in locking your cart in place, although we were anxious to get Miriam out first. So, we loaded up the carts and a few hundred dollars later we were on our way back home. Little did we know the real adventure was about to begin.
We were fortunate to find a parking spot right in front of our building, as this would have been much more difficult with a 2 block walk included. We got the girls up first, put Miriam down for a nap and turned a movie on for Rebekah. Then I grabbed a large backpack and April a large bag as we prepared for our workout. With 3 flights of long steep stairs plus the stoop stairs outside, we knew we were in for a treat. We did it with only 4 trips for me and 3 for April, each with items packed in the bags on our backs and carrying a number of items in our arms. We had to make sure the car was locked each trip, because "in a New York minute, everything can change....."(The Eagles) The 83deg humid weather added to our discomfort and we both were in need of a shower after the experience. But we now have food in our house to help strengthen the aches in our backs.
